TANDEM Hamburg e.V. - Our Mission Statement
We have been a successfully operating language school since 1985, and we are proud of the excellent quality of our language courses, the modern orientation of our school and the diversity and flexibility of our portfolio. We emphasize the importance of a pleasant learning process and strive to achieve this in our daily communication with our clients and partners as well as our staff. We distinguish ourselves by continuously seeking and mastering new challenges.
Learning a language is the basis of intercultural communication, playing a prominent role in a globalised world. We aim at supporting language learning through our friendly and motivating learning atmosphere and at arousing enthusiasm for intercultural exchange. The core of our teaching is task-oriented; the objective here is always improvement of our learners in everyday situations, in their studies or at the workplace. Our utmost concern in this is the clients' satisfaction with TANDEM Hamburg's offerings.
We orient our high-quality language services towards the individual needs of our clients, the demands of a globalised education environment and towards internationally recognised measures of evaluation and examination. We demonstrate our proficiency in our German and foreign language courses on a daily basis and have for over a decade been taking part in international development projects. Here we show our competence and our capacity for successful intercultural partnerships and for the development of innovative target oriented Educational programmes. This is done on our own initiative, as e.g. n our ‘Train-the-Trainer’ courses, a qualification initiative for teachers at European level in internationally run programmes of further education, as well as in close cooperation with clients and players from general, political and vocational education, such as trade unions (language courses for works councillors and trade union staff), high schools (Bachelor programmes for business English) and associations of visually impaired and blind people (e-learning in English, German, French, and other languages for blind youths and adults).
In order to continuously improve our portfolio for our clients, we place great emphasis on using a constant process of quality control.
This is done through client customer monitoring as well as through independent external audits (Weiterbildung Hamburg e.V., TANDEM International) and through the creation of our own quality management system.
Our requirements for quality standards are represented through

Since 2016 TANDEM Hamburg has been a certified institution for the promotion of vocational training according to Social Code III. Auditing is done by the certification agency 'Hanseatische Zertifizierungsagentur (HZA).
Integration into the employment market and sustainability
Our activities with regards to career orientation and monitoring aim at integrating and re-integrating participants into the labour market. Therefore we heed and consider developments and trends at the labour market in the preparation of these courses. In order to further support the sustainable effectiveness of these activities, we help participants during the educational process and beyond.
Our clients are learning a foreign language for private and for vocational/professional reasons. Our corporate clients are looking for tailor-made education programmes for their staff. Our groups from abroad are asking for encounters and intercultural exchange, or for a possibility of further qualification. For other groups we are organising language and exchange programmes with our partners abroad.
We are happy to welcome all of them here at our school and to meet their requests for a lively and qualified class, for a transparent language course structure, for sincere and friendly guidance, proficient language placement and fair terms of trade.
Our staff show competence, involvement and identification with the aims of our institution. Internally as well as externally, our cooperation is characterised by mutual respect, trust, openness, reliability, sustainability and empathy in dealing with each other.
Our teachers identify and are involved with the aims of our institution. They are native speakers and have an excellent teaching and professional competence. They enjoy teaching, dealing with people and are happy to share their excitement for their language and culture.
Our cooperation partners
We are cooperating in the development of new teaching methods with universities here and abroad; we are project partners of European education suppliers within the framework of EU-funded programmes. As part of TANDEM International e.V. we work with a number of education suppliers and are supporting international understanding and education through this work.
